In addition to being a member of the initiating committee for Transition Santa Cruz, I’m also a rep for Chelsea Green Publishing, U.S. publisher of The Transition Handbook by Rob Hopkins. I wanted to make sure you all knew that Chelsea Green can offer the book to Transition groups at a volume discount of 45% ($13.72 each) on purchases of 20 copies or more. (If you buy 50 at a time, the cost goes down to $12.47.) Licensed retailers buying wholesale can get 50% discount on as few as 10 books. If you’re hosting a training or a meeting and would like to make the book available to attendees and raise a little money for the host committee, please feel free to reply to me and I can help set you up. You won’t receive this discount ordering through the Chelsea Green website.
Also, Chelsea Green publishes or distributes a number of other books that may be of interest to Transition groups, all of which are available at the same volume discount rates. Titles include:
If any of these resources would be useful to you, just post a comment here or drop me a note. You can also order them at your local independent bookstore, or your library!

Hi-
I just wanted to share my good experience with this offer. I bought 25 copies of the Handbook back in March (I imported them from England, in fact, before Michael was selling them in the US). I sold out all 25 copies in two weeks. It helped that I asked people to reserve copies with me. Not everyone that expressed interest actually bought one, but other folks did appear to buy them.
It's a good idea to sell them for cash, not credit, unless you are very well organized or have a meticulous memory.
"Money is like blood," says NEF researcher David Boyle. "Local purchases recirculate it, but patronize mega-chains or online retailers," he says, and "it flows out like a wound."
