What is this mailing list?

Let's face it, sometimes you just want to know what's happening across ALL local initiatives in the U.S. -- even if you don't live in the U.S.

We've just implemented a broadcast email list for Transition United States. By subscribing to this list you are enabling members on the list to mail to you and all other members on the list. You will receive announcements of events and new developments from members across all localities across the U.S. Please use this list with respect.

  • Join this group to sign up.
  • Step 1. Start a Discussion and paste in your message if you wish to archive the message. This step is optional if you're just getting out a quick message to the group and don't care to retain a copy. Note. Adding Comments to the Comment Wall does just that -- no mail goes to anybody.
  • Step 2. Send Message to Group. Paste a copy of your message into the outgoing mail to send it to all members. Note. Nothing is mailed without clicking on SEND MESSAGE TO GROUP.
  • Remove yourself at any time
  • Reinstate yourself at any time

Les,

Thanks for the note. Since there are a number of "Transitions" sites I wasn't sure where the best place to post would be.

Once I know more about when the book will be published and who will be publishing it, I'll check in with you to see how best to post information for comment.

Jed, the best way to get others involved with critiquing and assisting with your book is to create a Discussion here on this site. Tell them what you are doing, what kinds of collaboration you'd like from them, etc. LEt me know if you have questions about how to create a discussion.

Zev,

Thanks for the encouraging note. I'm talking to a possible agent today (I've had 7 previous books published) but am between agents. As I'm sure you're aware, this is the kind of book that everyone needs to read, but many people still resist (including the publishing industry, which is part of the "civilized" world which is sinking). We are definitely making the transition to a better world, but the book industry as a whole is pretty slow to making changes.

There are a number of people in the Transition community who have offered to review early chapters, both for their own interest, and to offer suggestions.

If you're interested (or if others are), let me know.

Best wishes,

Jed

Nice title Jed...it is critical that we help others understand that the future CAN be better even though it may be significantly different. - Zev

Bob,

Thanks for the post and note. Getting ready for "whatever" pushes us through our denial. We will each address these issues in our own way. Having various resources is important.

I'm still working on my book, working title, As Civilization Sinks: Making the Transition to a Better World.

Keep the faith.

Hey ya’ll! These are the best preparedness videos I’ve ever seen (and free!). Did you ever wonder about those people who lose everything in an instant by flood, fire, or other disaster? The 72 Hour Kit takes you step by step for filling a easy to grab and carry, waterproof bag full of anything you could possibly need in the event that things go bad (for any reason!)

We have got to be prepared for ANYTHING, especially in the face of increasing threats of terrorist attacks. Check these out (thanks to member Git-R-Done for sharing!). I especially like the “Beer Can Trail Cooking” one - you never know when that might come in handy! ;)
