Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I'm the host and producer of Peak Moment Conversations: Community Responses for a Changing Energy Future.

Programs showcase perspectives and initiatives for local self-reliant living. The half-hour programs feature conversations and on-site tours with individuals and communities preparing for accelerating energy decline, climate chaos, and economic uncertainty.

138+ programs are free online at www.peakmoment.tv/conversations, are cablecast on about two dozen community access TV stations nationwide. Contact us if you'd like to sponsor the series on your local community-access TV station.

DVDs of these programs plus presentations by Richard Heinberg, Julian Darley and others about relocalization, permaculture are at www.peakmoment.tv.

Peak Moment Television is produced by Robyn Mallgren and Janaia Donaldson, Yuba Gals Independent Media of Nevada City, California. Contact: janaia@peakmoment.tv.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Peak Oil and climate change, along with other resource declines and population overshoot, are impelling us to reduce our ecological footprint. I like the Transition movement's process orientation and inclusivity.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
Continuing to produce videos that show Transition at work -- in many locales and many dimensions. These can be resources for Transition movers and shakers in their educational work.

I am heading up to my place in Citrus County tonight. Away from the fireworks. Besides putting in a pond and a few minor tweaks it is first a one year observation project. We have one acre surrounded by one hundred acres of man made mess of planted sand pines. It is a sad place... but nature has a plan.

Hi Janaia,

I think a lot of people are trying to figure out how to make effective use of ning, myself included. The miltonics videos came about when Les, the creator of this site, and I were talking. I showed him what research I had been doing to create videos for Midwest Permaculture, he got excited about it and put it up on the menu.

You can post individual videos in the media section but that's not necessarily effective use of your time. I could put a list of my favorites up on the miltonics page in Ning. Peak Moment, being one of my favorites, could go right up at the top...

Does that help?

Somerville MA is not showing videos yet. I think you mentioned getting in touch with people in my area. You can do interviews with people
at CCTV in Cambridge MA ( ask for Lloyd Smith, tell him I reccomended him). Their number is 617 661 6900. I looked for SCAT the Somerville
Community station and couldn't find anything. SCAT would not be a good idea as Emily, Vanessa, and I havent started yet on Transition-
we have been so busy with weatherization. I hope that is the info
you wanted. I think Wenham or Hamilton MA more organized-not sure.

Thanks everybody for your comments...Robyn and I really appreciate your support and ideas. Transitioners and relocalizers are at the heart of our programs. I hope folks consider putting the Conversations on their local community access TV station, too. Another way to spread the word.

Janaia: Just watched your Greer interview and I really enjoyed it. It was great to see you all bring out a critically important idea towards the end, one that people seem to block in all their worry - that even though our society and perhaps culture is in collapse, humans WILL live on.

I like to also remind people that the earth itself will also live on, even if climate change becomes overwhelming for most species... Gaia will heal, species will shift, adapt, die, ebb, flow, thrive, eek out and Gaia will live on. Even this simple fact seems to be blocked by many very concerned people and once they hear it and know that they knew it all a long there is a sense of relief from the perspective.

I'm in Michigan, and I have to say, as I'm sure so many others have, that finding your films kept me going! Thanks for lighting a beacon and keeping it shining!
