As someone who spend the past several months in Dallas, I've done a lot of thinking about the megalopolis problem. My feeling is that breaking down the mega-cities into manageable chunks - towns, communities or whatever - is the way it's going to ha…

Hi Judith, We have a similar challenge in DC and we have no models to follow. As you rightly observe, the Totnes model doesn't exactly fit our conditions. Merely showing the End of Suburbia does not necessarily bloom into an initiative. Like the Ea…

Report from Training for Transition - SF

Dear friends,

This is a report on the Training for Transition this past weekend at Fort Mason,
San Francisco.

There were 52 participants, from places as far flung as northern
Idaho, Nevada City, and Boulder, CO, wishing to know how to implement a
transition initiative. There was a (predictably) disprorportiontely large group
from Sebastapol/Sonoma. There were also several people from Santa Cruz there -
Santa Cruz is the first city in CA with "official" TT status. Apparently there
was a waiting… Continue

Hi again Judith. You had some questions about how to resolve the question of two groups that overlapped. Please skype me so we can talk, or I'll try to get you by phone. One of those ought to work. Looking forward to talking with you.

Hi Judith,

Thanks for the invitation to Transition East Bay. I'm new to the world of sites like this, groups, blogs etc. No facebook, not even a cell phone....says something about the power of the movement that it motivated a technophobe like me to navigate all of this. Anyhow, I think I've successfully joined Transition US, Transition California, and Transition East Bay. I look forward to meeting you in person at some point.

Welcome Judith! Great to see you here on Transition U.S. "... I'm very interested in permaculture, sustainable design, local food production , community building, etc... conflict resolution skills (NVC), organizational development, writing, event planning, etc....." -- We're so lucky to have all these interests!

You're one of the first to see a new US Transition Map we rolled out this weekend. As this page develops, it will become a map of U.S. and World Transition resources. All 50 states are now active. Many are brand new! Go to CALIFORNIA and sign up. Invite others. Enter some of your local events. Start Discussions. Make Transition! Have fun!
