Hi Judith, We have a similar challenge in DC and we have no models to follow. As you rightly observe, the Totnes model doesn't exactly fit our conditions. Merely showing the End of Suburbia does not necessarily bloom into an initiative. Like the ...

Yeah, I was too political. Too bad they never met Bill Mollison. One of the teachers of my PDC was Starhawk, and she's not as political as Bill. It seems to me that you're doing good work in DC. It's about to get a bit easier with a vote in Congress, too, isn't it? Transition is what I've had in mind since my PDC in 2001. It's got gardening in it, but it's got a whole lot more. To me, it's what Permaculture has been about since I first discovered it in the first Whole Earth Catalog. Thanks for responding. Be good to yourself.

Smiles.

Hi, Larry! I haven't heard from you since I got booted from the Urban Permaculture Yahoogroup. I get a lot of grief from folks in Austin who think Permaculture is gardening, too, but they just moderate me, instead of booting me. HA! Anyway, I'm happy to see that you are continuing the good work you have going in DC. Happy Holidays!

Smiles.

Big thanks! I've got this on my agenda, so you've saved me a bunch of time. We're going to get rid of the Amazon Ads soon and want our own community "ads and opportunities" to show.

Great site Larry! I've added it to our "U.S. Directory" tab on our main menu so others can see how they might do their own Ning sites. I want to talk with you one of these days about how you set up your own store. DC is truly an inspiration!

Greetings Larry! Great writeup of DC's activities. Your registration profile has lots of interesting details. Feel free to think about other movers and shakers in D.C. who would be wise to invite. Go ahead and INVITE them to your page above and have them include any materials that they think helpful. We are gathering the broadest kinds of info at this point -- emails, reports, brochures, minutes of meetings -- all of these can be included under Transition DC. Let me know when you have questions. It's great to see you here.
