Welcome! What would you like?

Transition Social Network Communications Using Skype

Skype is the official phone and conference calling tool for our social networks.
  • Install Skype -- Free calls and conference calls for skype-to-skype users. Set up LSquiresSkype as a Contact and call me with questions about Transition. I'll help you set up conference calls with your initiators, friends, family, committees, workgroups and virtual special interest groups. Communication is my passion and my contribution to Transitioners.
  • Skype calls to landlines and cell phones -- Need to call non-Skype phones? Set up a pre-paid account. Call me if you have questions how pre-paids differ from skype-to-skype free accounts. Very handy when I was 4 months in India last year and called clients back in the U.S. at 2.1 cents a minute. This is how Skype can afford to give free service to skype-to-skype users. Call me at LSquiresSkype if you have further questions.
  • Getting the Network the World Needs Les Squires is a real fan of Lawrence Lessig. If you want to understand the heart of social networking, and why the Transition movement sports approximately 100 ning sites, here is a must watch video. Lessig helps us all think out of our cultural boxes.

Hi Les: I'll give a try at a resource library, like I advocated only about a year ago. I will probably have questions, as I don't fully understand Ning organization. Again, thanks for all your work!

Les,

Transition Houston is on the transition texas ning site, as well as having our own website, transitionhouston.wordpress.com. Several of our group are working on an online strategy, so we may be upgrading our online presence soon.

Hi Les! Thanks for the excellent coaching! Would it be helpful for us to talk for a few minutes to make sure we know how to best work in the network? We are a startup and I'm careful not to overpromise in our presentation, and at the same time, our system is going to be very helpful for transition communities. So, the idea is that if you in your role with the network understand a bit more you can guide us best. What do you think?

For example, we want to honestly present ourselves as a startup rather than an organization with many banks already in place. We also want to correctly convey the opportunity for communities to participate in our process of local community owned bank formation that we'll be rolling out early this coming year. So, in this way we're a bit unusual and so I'm looking for your guidance. Looking forward to diving in and seeing how we can be a positive part of the good work you all have begun!
Thank you and be well. David

Would you, or others you know in Russia, be interested in starting TRANSITION RUSSIA? Let me know. I'll be happy to assist.

There's perhaps no question I'm asked more often than "What about Local Currencies?" So I'm starting a study group on alternative forms of community trading. Register your interest! Soon we will begin building a prototype.

Thanks David for your headsup! I'm sure many here will be interested to hear what your group discovers. Edgar brings the best of human values to bear on local currencies. Could you please provide a direct link to the Time Banks video? Happy New Year.
