I believe violence is inevitable if things start to get bad because some things are bad now and there is violence. That said, I believe the majority of people capable of violence wish not to go there and will not if they know people AND know people…
Is it naive to wonder how important defense and security are going to be in the future?
I don't see the need for concern myself, but I've had a fairly sheltered life, and I don't claim to know everything.
I just wonder if it's inevitable that ther…
We are going to try a transition movement here in Central Maine. We are going to focus around restorative justice and neighborhood watch issues. We need to see if we can hold this place.
The transition movement has to incorporate issues of security…
The problem with asking "what does this have to do with Transition Initiatives" is that the answer MUST be taken in context. It seems to me that in Constantine's context the role of legal midwifery and home-birth is a non-issue. For the Levier famil…
Hi, Steve,
So, what I read is that you feel no connection to where you are and want to move to somewhere where you will likely have less connection. ????? There seems to be something missing from this picture.
I can relate to what you say, but as…
Dorothy,
Its funny you should say you got into this website because yo're looking for a group in your area, because that's exactly why my husband and I joined this website too. My husband and our soul friend have given me as homework to find transi…
Hello Folks!
It's a lovely day here in Southeast Ohio but the temperatures are nearly record breakers for this time of year: 88 F yesterday, promising to be another hot one today. I'm doing a bit of a rain dance while keeping my fingers crossed tha…
hi! I'm a 61-year-old in Eugene, Oregon, that's Western Oregon; Lane County. I don't have a group in transition yet. I just joined this website, because I'm LOOKING FOR a group in my area. Everyone is so garden crazy, outdoors, environmentally -- ec…
Hi Stephen!
But, how can a passionate person take part without roots to connect them to their locality? I ask this for my own purposes, but also for the many many young people I know who are suffering from a fundamental disconnect with their locati…
Hi, Stephen! I am new to the movement, too. In fact, I think the movement is so new to the US in general that there are few true experts here yet. From what I can tell from my lurking on the internet, there are very few US cities actually moving tow…
I'm new to the network, but I've been following the Transition movement for a year now. I am wondering what are people's thoughts on those of us who have little or no connection with where we live right now?
Is the notion of moving somewhere else t…
This Group
is a place for those who are just starting out in Transition and want to hang out together, email each other, and interact. Otherwise known as "mullers". Join us! Ask David for assistance if you have questions.
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
As a very very interested party! I want to move anywhere in the world to be part of this. I just don't have any connection with where I live now.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
The major crises we face now are Peak Oil, Climate Instability and the fragmenting of our connection to one another and to our environment. The Transition Movement is the only sane idea that I've come across in following these issues. It feels right, to put it simply. :-)
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement? What can YOU teach us? What can your GROUP teach us?
I am a passionate contemplative who loves hard work. I can teach you to remain open to those of us that have felt orphaned and without a community to devote ourselves to. I bring with me resilience, a practiced ability to adapt to my surrounding circumstances and a youthful kind heart.

My main concern for Transition in the US is the need to address and welcome people who feel no connection to where they happen to be living at the moment. I know there are people like me who have sought for a place to belong but haven't had the means to create that place where they are. I am hopeful that this movement won't become another closed circle that people like me will be shut out from. :-)

Also, thanks for your sincere sharing ...yes, let us truly hope that it doesn't become a closed circle! I am sorry you have experienced that sort of thing in the past. No one should feel shut out from this endeavor but we, as humans, have a lot of room for improvement in the arena of caring, communication and collective effort.
Hey, I have a bus camper on my land that is waiting for a traveller to call it home. We have a community thing happening up here on Broadwell Hill and would like to make the bus available to someone who wants to help be a part of it.
I have had folks come through on their life journeys every summer and we have all learned from each other while having a great time getting work done even when needing to say farewell so they could continue their journey elsewhere.
Let me know if you're still travelling and would like more info.
Glad to hear that you've found value in my writings...it's important stuff and I too feel that the transition model offers the most potential in terms of approach.
